Jacqui’s attention has always been drawn towards the connectivity of Classical Horsemanship, for which the Alexander Technique and Natural Horsemanship have complemented her teaching and training of horses and clients.
Jacqui’s first AT and riding lessons were with Danny Pevsner FBHS, Senior Alexander Teacher, who had furthered his training at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna and with Nuno Oliveira in Portugal.
Between 1979 and 1981, Jacqui trained to BHSII under Harry Douglas FBHS at Patchett’s Green School of Riding, Hertfordshire. A planned year in Australia became ten very special years. Many opportunities furthered her understanding of teaching clients and training a variety of horses. She specialised in re-educating young and sometimes complex horses, also competing in Dressage and Eventing.
Following her introduction to the Alexander Technique with Danny Pevsner, Jacqui continued with regular lessons from John Nicholls in Melbourne where he and Lynn ran an AT Training Course. Jacqui worked, and became great friends, with Erika Whitaker and others before beginning her training with Vivien Mackie’s AT Course for Musicians.
Jacqui then returned to London to complete her full training with Shoshana Kaminitz in Belgravia, whilst also continuing lessons with Margaret Goldie and Walter Carrington, who both visited Danny’s yard. Walter’s horse was stabled with Danny, and the conversations between Danny, Walter and Charles Harris FBHS were a privilege to witness.
Jacqui completed her AT training in 1996 and has worked Teaching Horsemanship and AT ever since, alongside a rich family life.
